I know I can’t expect each new demon encounter to be capped off with an epic battle, but I hoped for something a little more than a chase scene once they finally cornered the villain behind the possessions. do finally catch the culprit near the end of the episode, but even that pivotal scene feels like too little too late.Įven the action scenes, which have been generally well-executed so far, are cut dismally short in this episode. Some of the scenes felt like shot for shot remakes I felt like I was watching a repeat. Boruto bursts in and (confusingly) claims responsibility for the incident, swearing once again that he will catch the person that hurt Sumire.īoruto taking the blame for not being there to save the class rep feels like a stretch to say the least, but even more baffling is the show dedicating so much of the episode to the mail delivery/investigation plot seen in last week’s show.
I had hoped the anime might find some interesting way to cap off this short story, but instead it simply revisits the same story beats from last week, offering very little in the way of new information.įollowing the incident teased in the final moments of last week’s episode, the class rep finds herself in the hospital, having apparently been saved by Naruto. The instructor has other plans however, as he follows Naruto and tells him a terrible secret. This week’s episode of Boruto, “Shadow of the Mastermind”, finds itself in an awkward situation, being tasked with capitalizing on a flimsy setup from last week. One day, after failing his graduation exam for the third time, an instructor named Mizuki convinces him to steal a sacred scroll so he can become more powerful. He has a dream is to become the greatest Hokage so he can gain acknowledgment and respect. Not understanding why the people hate him so, he resorts to pranks and other acts to gain attention. In a final act to defeat the demon, the Fourth Hokage sealed its essence within the body of a baby boy.
